This past week I had the awesome opportunity of being able to be a Lead Press Supporter for the Spring Edition of ‘Fro Fashion Week here in Atlanta, Ga. From the moment I entered the venue I was impressed with the ENTIRE event!
I started off the day going to a couple of workshops one about transitioning to natural hair and then one by the Creator of Pura Body Naturals about making shampoo bars. Both sessions were super informative and personal. I learned a couple of things about transitioning hair, such as when your hair shrinks due to exposure to moisture it’s actually your hair trying to tell you it needs moisture! At the session with making shampoo bars, I learned that making DIY shampoo is not really that hard!
I then decided to going into some of the Suites hosted by Beautiful Textures ,Shea Moisture and Curls Unleashed. All of the suites were fabulous and offered everything from massages to styling our natural coils. In the Loving My Hair Suite, Natural Hair Expert, Felicia Leatherwood offered FABULOUS advice about managing natural hair without breakage. Two tips that really caught my attention were to take rubber bands off of your daughter’s hair before bedtime to avoid training the hair to “break” and to blow dry your hair on two settings..cool for the ends of your hair and regular temperature for the other parts of your hair! I was able to stock back up on Beautiful Textures products and left feeling renewed about my natural hair!
Afterwards, I attended the “Bloggers, Brand Brunch” hosted by Afrobella and this ladies was the highlight of the day for me! We were treated to some really good advice in not only building your brand but making sure that you blog for the right reasons! She was so personable that she made me really evaluate why I am blogging and if I needed to make any changes. She discussed her struggles as a blogger and how she manages to keep sane!

In the end, Fro Fashion Week is a great experience for ALL naturals to attend. I am anxiously awaiting the Fall edition of Fro Fashion Week which I am sure will be bigger and better!
