Read part I here and part II here. I’ve been blogging for 3 years now and I’ve learned a lot of things about interacting with other bloggers that I think anyone whose thinking about blogging should know. It’s hard out here for a blogger–especially when trying to build other relationships with bloggers. Now when I first started off I didn’t know anyone else blogging so I had to rely heavily on Twitter to meet people. I was totally confused about Twitter but I started interacting with people and gradually I meet some cool peeps and finally got to talk to other bloggers. But starting a relationship with other bloggers, also showed me that this blogging world can be CUT THROAT!
I quickly learned that there are bloggers who will “bend over backwards” to help you and there are others who are giving ZERO help at all. Let me give you an example. When I first started, I was looking for someone to design my blog. I reached out to several bloggers and out of the five I messaged only one reached back out and let me know of some good graphic design artists. It’s cool that the other bloggers didn’t help me but it showed me that when blogging, money and power is concerned there are people who would not help you if you were “on fire” and they had a bucket of water.
Despite there being cutthroat bloggers, there are others who are super helpful. Even today three years later when I have questions, I know that there are certain blogger shwo will give me honest answers while others won’t offer one ouce of advice-at all. It’s just part of the game some bloggers don’t wnat to share their “secrets to success” and others will.
I decided when I started this blog I’d help anyone –if I can ; therefore, I’m pretty transparent. If you ask– I’ll tell you .
Now when I started in this blogger game everyone told me the number one way to get followers is to comment on other people’s blog. I did that starting off but it gets exhausting. Sometimes I was “just commenting” to get someone to “comment back” on mine. Needless to say, I stopped that. I wanted to make sure I’m authentic so if I REALLY read your blog I’ll comment, Facebook or Twitter you. But now since my spare time is so sparce I RARELY get to comment back on blogs..but I try.
The best part of blogging is meeting great people and I’ve meet my share of mine. There’s Tara from The Young Mommy Life who’s a great resource for anything blogging. There’s Kita from Say What You Wanna who is HI-LA-RI-OUS! There’s LaSHawn from Chronicles of Pookah’s Mom who CRACKS ME UP with stories of being a Mom. Then there’s bloggers who are uber fashionable like Mimi from LipGloss and a Binky who needs to take me shopping and a WHOLE host of others who are great blogger buds of mine. Of course, I’ve left off folks because it’s almost Midnight and I’m still up but comment below so my readers can show you love.
So the number one advice I have for people wanting to start a blog— find some blogger buds who you can help you cultivate as a blogger. Now take a minute and let me know which bloggers you love to read and support!

Welllll… you're one of my "newer" finds that I enjoy! You have great points here and one of the things that makes me crazy are the non-responsive bloggers. I will give willingly if I can help someone and is it so wrong to expect the same? This is the first time in 2 weeks that I have had the time to sit at night and do what I want which is MY blog and my blog peeps – we're ALL busy so they can't use the excuse that they're busy. It's because they're threatened to give their "stuff" away. Uhm… nothing any of us are doing is original. One of my top mentors – the one and only Jennifer James of Mom Blogger's Club told me once that if someone has to take your stuff, they're not going to last anyhow.
Wow.. I'm tired..that was a bit rambling. Sorry!!
My recent post A Note to My Kids on Social Media: I Was Here First
I hate that also! I mean what's the big deal..when you help people; people then help you! Oh well! If they don't tell me I'll google it! hehehehehehe
Very informative and very true! It’s hard out here on this blogosphere! I have been asked to do the same thing to help out some folks who are considering a blog. I will have to do some track backs and ping backs. Good stuff! I’m going to bed too!
Hey Sheree! It is hard out here for bloggers! I help, help and help some more! People helped me! heck!
Thanks for the shout out. Blogging buddies are great and sharing what little I know is the best thing ever. Believe me I have come across a few who won't tell you a thing I have had to search. #blmgirls on facebook is a great resource also I just found out some great info about PR stuff on there.
No problem chica! you know you keep me laughing! LOL
