My life changed on this past Saturday. I did what I said I was going to do for months and I completed a Cross Fit class. There are a ton of locations here in Atlanta, but I chose to go to CrossFit College Park and just like I thought it was the hardest workout of my life. I walked in the place pretty confident because lets face it- I’ve completed two half marathons, worked with Shaun T (Insanity) and a dozen other races. I mean that counts for something right? Ummm, apparently not.
When I walked in there were an equal amount of men and women but I kept wondering why people were going overboard with stretching. I mean they were taking 10-15 minutes to finish! I soon found out. The owner came out and before he put up the W.O.D. (workout of the day) he said, “We are going to do a workout we call ‘Barbara’, she’s one ‘nasty girl’ so have fun!” I was confused. Who in the heck was Barbara and why was she DIRTY?!? I quickly found out as we split into teams of three and completed the following workout: 5 rounds of 20 pull ups, 30 push ups, 40 sit ups and 50 air squats!
Now before I explain the aftermath (if you can’t tell from the picture above), let me show you want these exercises look like.
I did every workout, each rep and let’s say I limped out of the building at the end. The intensity of the workout, the atmosphere and the full body workout kicked my natural behind. Despite still being sore as I type this, I’m going back. I like that Cross Fit is not long (once you finish your W.O.D. you’re done) and that there are no frills. Next week I learn the basics about lifting so I’m sure that will be interesting. So say a prayer for your girl that Cross Fit doesn’t hurt me too bad. Stay tuned for tomorrow as I report back my Insanity and weight results!
Now have you tried Cross Fit? What did you think?

The pull-up would have gotten me. Sound intense. I have never heard of it but I will look it up.
